About the Artist

I paint with encaustic, acrylic, watercolors and mixed media. I exploit the unique property of each for my purposes while allowing the media to interplay. My art training was classical academy style, including painting in grisaille and earnest studies of the human figure. I studied with Maynard Dixon Stewart (son of Le Conte Stewart) in the San Francisco Bay Area, earning my B.A. in Painting. I earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington. Training and practice as an architect for twenty-five years continues to influence the the way I examine and abstract forms. I now paint full time.
